Job Search - Eureka!

I have been reading an excellent book on creativity by Doug Hall founder of Eureka! At the same time I am beginning to sense that it may be time to switch jobs, switch professions, or try something totally new. To this end I have decided to apply his techniques to a possible job search/switch. I'm taking my time and am looking to do something next summer. One of the techniques he mentions is "hitchhiking" which is basically piggy backing on someone else's ideas. So that I got me thinking that the blogosphere would be a great format for this type of thing seeking ideas of what to do next in life. So here goes, if you would like to contribute to a pool of ideas of what to do next feel free to do so. Over the next few months I'll be bouncing ideas off this page for consideration and experimentation. I will also be putting up some background info to stir further comments. Happy creating.

Absent Minded Dad

Well it has been brought to my attention that I have not been writing much on this blog! Which is true my focus has been on Drop 20, which is no excuse but hey. The kids started school this week, so summer is officially over! I did manage to get in two games of golf though which is impressive considering that my annual golf intake normally consists of 1 game per year. I am actually considering completing my degree online so I am currently looking into different options. Check out my daughters blog she has some post about me being abducted by aliens maybe that's where my summer went. Sunflower

Closed = Secure

I believe that one of the most important factors facing the US today is the subject of illegal immigration. Both our northern and southern borders are wide open to both those coming here for a better life and those coming here to destroy us. The "governator" apologized for his statement yesterday and the news media is all over him for his statement. From what I heard on CNN and FOX of the speech sounds to me like he meant what he said. He is an actor by trade and I don't think he makes slips like that too often , he is very media savvy. Either way I believe he is right the borders do need to be closed whether by wall, soldiers, or increased border patrol agents, it needs to be done for the sake of this generation and those to come. One of the ways to secure something is definitely by closing it in to keep it safe.

Who am I following until I'm ready to lead?

One of the things that has always been a factor in choosing what and when I do something has been "who am I following?" Knowing that I mirror or become like the person I am following I have made choices related to employment based on do I want to be like this person? At some point I am going to become that person, and others will be following me! I need to make sure that I am worthy of being followed. I am beginning ask that question again though is it time to move on and follow another, or is it time to take the lead? Time will tell.

A few things of note

It's been a busy fews weeks since my last postafew things a may be addressing in the future are: the Nuclear build up in Iran and more importantly in North Korea. Either of by their use would change the world in which we live. The second is Social Security protection, by that I mean there has been a lot of talk about reform which I think is needed, but if they are going to change the system I believe they also need to put in safe guards abotu other people using my number and my inability to be told by those who are supposedly protecting the system. The third thing that is of importance in our day which is a national security treat is illegal immigration enough said at this moment. Wacth for future comments.

Balance vs. Weaving

Just finished a good article on dadship regarding weaving our lives as a whole rather than achiving balance (equality between two aspects). It was good because it brought up the fact that most of us have more than two competing time commitments. check it out. 3D Dad

Catching up

I just finished one of the books I was trying to read for last year's goals. Good book by Edwin Rafael McManis, pastor of Mosaic. This one was titled "Seizing Your Divine Moment" he spoke about making the most of every opportunity that God put's before you, because who knows where it might lead you. Very inspiring I even sent one to a friend of mine. Well on to the rest of the list.

Level 4

I read an editorial today in Mission Frontiers regarding evangelism and reaching level 4 which requires "Biblical Integrity". Integrity is seriously lacking in today's world not to mention Biblical Integrity amongst those who claim to trust and believe the bible. The author states that it is not just signing Glory Glory Glory but demonstrating it. It's when we make our work our ministry and our ministry our work that we reach that level of demonstrating the glory of God. I feel that one of the areas I need to work on continually is seeing my work as God would see it, that is has a purpose greater than just bringing home the bacon. It was a good inspiring editorial to start the year with. I'm glad I picked it up.

The beginning of a three month remodel. Posted by Hello

The remodel...

Who would have thought that adding four feet to a kitchen would have taken as long as it did. Three months into the project my wife finally looked at me and said "maybe we bit off more than we can chew" Isn't that the story of our lives though wsee something and say "No Problem" then half way into it we realize what have I done. Sometimes I feel the same way about being a dad , I look at the three children that God has given me and I wonder what have I done., what a huge responsiblity. Without Christ it would be impossible to be a dad and to lead these kids in the truth.

Breaking Ground

This year I've decided to take action. Rather than thinking about something for an extra length of time and saying should I or shouldn't I, I'm going to do it. Our world is changing fast and I will either be changed by it or be an agent of change for it. The thought of blogging has intrigued me especially this in "The year of the Blog" as many magazines have dubbed it. So I've desided to try my hand at it, focusing on issues related to being a dad as well as political and social issues that effect us as people and families.
